Isabelle Younane, Head of External Affairs at Women\u2019s Aid, comments:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLouis Theroux\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Inside\u00a0The\u00a0Manosphere<\/span><\/i>\u00a0made for uncomfortable, yet\u00a0absolutely essential\u00a0viewing.\u00a0While so many\u00a0of the\u00a0influencers\u00a0in\u00a0the \u2018manosphere\u2019\u00a0claim to provide young men and boys with a \u2018cheat code\u2019 to being successful, the reality is that this alleged success comes hand in hand with misogyny. This, coupled with the rise\u00a0in popularity\u00a0of \u2018trad wives\u2019,\u00a0which\u00a0reinforce gender stereotypes and encourage women to be submissive,\u00a0is becoming a worrying trend. Women\u2019s Aid research\u00a0clearly\u00a0demonstrates\u00a0that\u00a0young people\u00a0who view misogynist content online\u00a0are five times more likely to view hurting someone physically as acceptable if\u00a0they\u00a0say sorry afterwards.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe reality is that misogyny is, and should always be, completely unacceptable. Relationships must be rooted in consent and respect, and seeing the opposite promoted to so many children and young men is enormously disturbing. We must do more \u2013\u00a0technology\u00a0companies must be held to\u00a0a higher\u00a0standard\u00a0and they must be vigilant about the content they show to young people.
