Women’s Aid responds to the amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill

“We welcome today’s amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill, which calls on tech firms to take down abusive images within 48 hours. Image based abuse is incredibly traumatic and violating to survivors and it is vital that social media platforms, and our Government, have zero tolerance when such images are being uploaded and shared. For too long, technology companies have fallen short in their duty of care to women and children, and we are pleased to see them finally being held to account.”
